On this day in 1945, then General Dwight Eisenhower was being honored in a feast at the Statler Hotel in Washington. With the nation's press looking on, General Eisenhower is asked if he wishes anything else. "Could somebody get me a Coke?" he asked. After polishing off the soft drink, he was again asked if he had any requests, to which he replied, "Another Coke!"
